![]() I want to free up space on my mobile and dump a continuous back up on my NAS of my phones photos. Too bad that feature is ONLY on laptops and not on mobile devices. I did something with drive for syncing my laptop which worked. Glad you found a way to set up a two way sync folder that uses an app that's based on a readily available app like webdav. So I just stopped using the pc back up feature on drive manager? (I forget all the similar names of these apps). I was disabling back up and then syncing all of them and the re enabling back up. The conflict makes one or the other no longer allow backup/sync - _. So much work.Įspecially when one folder is being synced and the other is being backed up. Or adding them all in 1 app vs having to authorize a folder then go and create it, select it and then associate 1 folder to the nas. I'd rather have the option to just right click a folder and it be added. All of those share folders in 2 different apps. I just really hate the awkward way of syncing via drive sync etc. I did see quite a few nice things on dsm 7 apps. See only cloud does a proper backup of files and folders and photos. Does it keeps things in original folder order? That's one thing that annoys me about other photo backups like the new and old photo station and memories or whatever it was Called. Got them off amazon all in the past 3 weeks.ĭs file? Interesting. This is a feature request for the Synology development team but there is nothing set in motion as of yet.I just got a ds 720+ and 2 920+ and all of them came with cloud Station. Remove Shared Folder from Synology File Station Management Summary Encrypting is like not only taking away the hat from the display, but placing it on layaway in the back in storage with a combination lock on it. For whatever reason, someone really wants that hat but can’t afford it. ![]() Say like you had a retail shop on Main Street and you had a hat on display in the window. Share Folders are Removed! Why would I ever use the encryption feature? ![]() The network Share folder is no available and no longer visible in “file station” You must select “encryption” followed by “unmount” to complete the encryption process or for us, remove the network share. Some people struggle with this task but I digress. ![]() The other option is to simply remember the password. You will encounter a feature to download filename.key for recovering the encrypted folder. Log into the Synology DiskStation Manager, select control panel, Shared folder, select the folder you wish to remove (not delete its data) the share for, select edit, and click the “encryption” tab. The data will return if you use “encryption” option under “shared folder” to mount. Performing these steps will place a lock on the shared folder you encrypted and remove the folder so it’s no longer visible from file station. The next step for removing shares without deleting the data is a bit wonky because Synology DSM does not offer an easy way to remove shares without deleting the data inside them. Great! You have reliable backup with a test restore in a lock box. You never know when someone comes out of the woodwork to request that data “hey, I needed that data, panda jerk!” With that said, it is probably best to use HyperBackup for storing data on some external drives. Shared data is a bit of a sensitive subject. Remove Shared Folder from Synology File Station Management is a bit wonky when attempting remove shares without deleting the data.
